Columbus Club of Winchester Virginia

We are a 501 c 3 nonprofit Corporation established by the Deacon Ed
Christianson Council of the Knights of Columbus to provide food and other

support to Winchester and Frederick County.

The Knights of Columbus is an international fraternal organization of the Catholic Church
performing charitable activities to support our communities. The Deacon Ed Christianson Council of Knights supports those in need in many ways, but our food ministry is by far our most significant accomplishment.

 We provide a hot meal every Wednesday, prepared by one of 6 teams. The food is
donated and prepared by the team members. An average of 100 meals is now served
weekly.
 We deliver parcels of non-perishable food, sandwiches, home-made soup, and frozen
meals throughout the community. The deliveries are made twice a month by volunteer
drivers; soup makers donate the ingredients and provide delicious soup; and other
volunteers supply the material and prepare the sandwiches; A seventh team prepares a
nutritional meal every week and freeze it for delivery on Wednesday.
 We also assist in paying utility bills for those in need. Working with the Congregational
Community Action Program (CCAP) and FaithWorks, who receive requests, vet
requirements, and distributes funds directly into the recipient’s utility account.

Over 150 volunteers are involved in running the operation. These include:

 Knights and their families
 Sacred Heart of Jesus parishioners
 Sacred Heart Academy students
 Home Schooled students
 Three (3) local high school Christian Service Clubs
 Religious Education students of Sacred Heart
 NW Works
 Other community service organizations
We receive food from:
 Catholic Charities of Arlington
 Daily food donations from the parishioners of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church
 Blue Ridge Food Bank
 Local grocery stores
We support and are supported by:
 Our parish Hispanic Ministry
 The Congregational Community Action Program (CCAP)

 Highland Food Pantry
 Hope Again Food Pantry
 Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stephens City
 Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Stephenson
 Other Food Pantries in the Frederick Co/Winchester area
 Local Civic organizations
